From May 31 to June 2, 2025

San Secondo Parmense is ready to host one of the most captivating historical events in the Parma lowlands: the Palio of the Contrade, scheduled for May 31 to June 2, 2025. Three days filled with pageantry, reenactments, traditional games, and unforgettable performances that bring the town back to the splendor of the Renaissance.

A Journey into the Renaissance

The Palio celebrates the Renaissance-era heritage of the Rangoni family, who ruled San Secondo in the 16th century. The highlight is the grand historical parade, featuring over 500 costumed participants including nobles, soldiers, ladies, and knights. The streets come alive with music, flag-throwers, and fire breathers in a vibrant open-air show.

The Contrade Compete

At the heart of the Palio are the competitions between the five town districts: Borgo della Rocca, Prevostura, Trinità, Castello, and Biffi. Traditional games and the thrilling horse race that decides the winning contrada create an electrifying atmosphere of rivalry and pride.
