Borgotaro Porcini Mushroom Museum

The Borgotaro Porcini Mushroom Museum is dedicated to one of the most famous gastronomic treasures of the Taro Valley: the Fungo di Borgotaro IGP, the only mushroom in Europe to hold Protected Geographical Indication status.

Located inside the historic Museo delle Mura in Borgo Val di Taro, the museum takes visitors on a journey through the forests, traditions and food culture of the Parma Apennines. The exhibition explores the different varieties of porcini mushrooms, their natural habitats, traditional harvesting methods, processing and preservation techniques, as well as their importance in local cuisine.

The museum also tells the story of the close relationship between the people of the Taro Valley and their forests, combining nature, history, local traditions and gastronomy.
