St. Michael's Church – Sissa Trecasali

Located in Trecasali, in the municipality of Sissa Trecasali, St. Michael's Church (Chiesa di San Michele Arcangelo) is one of the most interesting religious landmarks in the Bassa Parmense.

The church has medieval origins, with the first historical records dating back to 1230. The present building was constructed between 1740 and 1766 in the Baroque style.

Its elegant façade, distinctive bell tower and richly decorated interior reflect centuries of religious tradition and local history.

History and Artistic Heritage

Inside, visitors can admire a spacious nave with side chapels, beautiful frescoes by Paolo Ferrari and decorative stucco work.

One of the church's most important artworks is an altarpiece depicting St. Michael defeating the Devil, traditionally attributed to Gaetano Callani.

Today, the church remains an important place of worship and a valuable example of Baroque architecture in the Parma countryside.
