Rocca Meli Lupi Castle – Soragna

Located in the historic centre of Soragna, in the province of Parma, Rocca Meli Lupi Castle is one of the most beautiful and best-preserved noble residences in Emilia-Romagna.

Originally built as a medieval fortress in 1385 by Bonifacio and Antonio Lupi, the castle was gradually transformed into an elegant princely residence. It still belongs to the Meli Lupi family, who continue to live there.

History, Art and Architecture

The castle preserves an extraordinary collection of frescoes, antique furniture, paintings and decorative artworks that reflect centuries of aristocratic life.

Among its most remarkable rooms are the Throne Room, the Hall of Stuccoes, the Gallery of the Poets and the beautifully decorated rooms featuring paintings by Cesare Baglione and Nicolò dell'Abate.

The interiors are particularly admired for their magnificent Baroque decorations, gilded furnishings and artistic details.

Outside, visitors can discover a romantic English-style garden, with ancient trees, pathways and a picturesque lake.

The castle is also associated with the legend of Donna Cenerina, a mysterious noblewoman whose ghost, according to local tradition, still wanders through its rooms.

Rocca Meli Lupi is an essential destination for anyone wishing to explore the history, art and architectural heritage of the Parma countryside.
