Cronovilla Lakes Nature Oasis – Traversetolo, Parma

Located in Vignale di Traversetolo, along the banks of the Enza River, the Cronovilla Lakes Nature Oasis (Oasi Naturalistica di Cronovilla) is one of the most interesting natural areas in the province of Parma.

Surrounded by lakes, woodlands, meadows and wetlands, this protected oasis offers visitors the opportunity to discover the rich biodiversity of the Enza Valley, just a short distance from Traversetolo.

It is an ideal destination for nature lovers, families, photographers and birdwatching enthusiasts looking for a peaceful escape into the countryside.

Nature, Lakes and Wildlife

The Cronovilla Oasis developed on land previously used for gravel extraction. Over time, the abandoned quarry was transformed into a valuable natural habitat, with artificial lakes gradually surrounded by vegetation and wildlife.

Today, the protected area extends across approximately 60 hectares and forms part of the European Natura 2000 network, established to safeguard important habitats and species.

The oasis is particularly famous for its birdlife, with numerous species recorded throughout the year, including grey herons, little egrets, kingfishers, ducks and migratory birds.

The landscape also supports amphibians, aquatic plants, reeds and typical riverside vegetation.

What to See and Do

Visitors can enjoy nature walks along marked trails, admire the lakes and observe wildlife from wooden birdwatching shelters.

The oasis features 22 observation shelters, including facilities designed for educational activities with schools.

Spring and autumn are particularly interesting seasons for observing migratory birds, while the surrounding vegetation creates beautiful landscapes throughout the year.

The area is also suitable for nature photography and quiet outdoor excursions.
