Golaso Castle – Varsi, Parma

Golaso Castle (Castello di Golaso) is an impressive historic fortified residence located in the village of Golaso, in the municipality of Varsi, surrounded by the beautiful landscapes of the Ceno Valley.

The origins of the castle remain uncertain, although its history dates back to medieval times. Between the 16th and 17th centuries, the original fortress was transformed into an elegant fortified manor house and agricultural estate.

The complex covers approximately 5,000 square metres and features three distinctive towers, two internal courtyards, an ancient chapel and a large residential building.

Once belonging to the noble Rugarli family, the castle later passed to the Corsini family.

According to local tradition, the building contains 12 staircases, 30 doors and 365 windows, symbolically representing the months, days and year.

Today, Golaso Castle is an important example of the architectural heritage of the Parma Apennines and a fascinating landmark for visitors exploring Varsi and the surrounding countryside.
