The History of La Grafica Nocetana

The local printing tradition developed during the late 19th and early 20th centuries. In 1946, Libassi became a partner in the printing business, and in 1963 he took over as its sole owner, continuing the activity under the name La Grafica Nocetana until its closure in 1996.

The Municipality of Noceto acquired the historic equipment from Libassi’s family in 1997, preserving an important collection that might otherwise have been dispersed.

What to See Inside the Museum

The exhibition brings together printing presses, working tools and an extensive collection of typographic materials. Many of the machines are of Italian manufacture and remain in working condition.

Among the most significant pieces is a Dall’Orto printing press dating from the second half of the 19th century. Visitors can also discover a platen press produced by the Officine Meccaniche Monzesi, a historic flatbed press by Fratelli Mordini and machinery manufactured by Nebiolo.

The collection includes numerous pieces of movable type, spacing materials, borders and decorative elements used in traditional letterpress printing. Together, these objects illustrate the precision and technical knowledge required to transform a manuscript into a finished printed page.
